Dear SpringHill Community,

On behalf of the SpringHill Board of Directors, I want to share an important update about the future of our ministry. After much prayer and a rigorous evaluation process with industry professionals, the Board and Senior Leadership Team have made the difficult but necessary decision to sell the Indiana property and sunset our Day Camp program. These decisions support our goals of eliminating debt, reducing complexity, and focusing our energy on delivering excellent customer experiences from a single, thriving location.

These decisions were not made lightly. They come after hundreds of hours of modeling, dialogue, and discernment about how to best steward the mission, resources, and people of SpringHill. We are deeply grateful for the faithful leaders who have brought us to this point—each one laying foundations on which we now build.

Our new President, Molly Ramseyer, has led us through this challenging time with boldness, humility, and prayerful wisdom. She has built strong teams, listened carefully, and embraced the reality that pruning is sometimes necessary for new growth to occur. Her vision—“simplify to multiply”—calls us to focus deeply on our Michigan overnight camp, programs, and church partnerships.

This is not a retreat from our mission but a refocusing of it. We remain steadfast in our calling: to glorify God by creating life-impacting experiences that enable young people to know Jesus Christ and grow in their relationship with Him. The Spirit is already at work through these steps, preparing us for even greater impact in the years ahead.

Thank you for standing with us. Your prayers, encouragement, and partnership make this ministry possible. Together, we believe God will use this season of pruning to multiply fruit for His Kingdom.

With gratitude and hope,

Scott Whitlock
Chair, SpringHill Board of Directors

SpringHill Donors

First, thank you. Your generosity has helped kids encounter Jesus, strengthened families, and helped us to partner with churches as they minister to their congregations. We are so grateful for the way you’ve chosen to invest in what God is doing through SpringHill.

With the upcoming closure of our Indiana property after Fall 2025 and the conclusion of our Day Camp program, we know you may have questions about what these changes mean for your giving and for the future of SpringHill. Below you’ll find answers to the most common questions we’ve heard from donors and church partners. Our hope is that you’ll see not only how your investment will continue to make an impact, but also the exciting opportunities ahead to reach even more young people and families for Christ.

  • Why did SpringHill decide to close the camp in Seymour, Indiana?

To ensure the long-term health of the ministry, SpringHill needs to focus its resources more effectively.

By selling the Indiana property, we can eliminate debt, reinvest in Michigan, and continue offering excellent, Christ-centered camp experiences for kids and churches.

  • Why did SpringHill decide to sunset the Day Camp program?

SpringHill chose to sunset the Day Camp program in order to focus all our organizational energy on a single, thriving location.

Over the years, Day Camps has served over 150,000 kids, and in many cases, we’ve been able to help equip churches to run dynamic programs themselves.

The legacy of SpringHill Day Camps lives on through the entire Midwest!

  • How does this position the organization for long-term sustainability?

By eliminating duplicate costs and investing in one strong central location, we are building a healthier financial foundation that will sustain our ministry for generations. Clearing long-term debt also frees up more resources to go directly toward our mission—impacting kids through life-changing camp experiences.

  • How will SpringHill use the funds from the sale of the Seymour, Indiana property?

The majority will be used to pay off long-term debt. The remaining will be reinvested into programs, scholarships, and facilities at the Evart, Michigan, location to expand our reach and impact.

  • How does this decision align with stewardship and accountability of donated funds?

We are committed to stewarding every dollar entrusted to us with care. By consolidating operations, donor gifts will go directly to transformational ministry. This means more resources can be invested in program innovation, scholarships, and facility improvements, which directly impact the camper experience.

  • Will this change lead to additional fundraising efforts?

Yes, even though the sale of the Indiana property will eliminate our long-term debt, we see this as an opportunity to launch fresh development campaigns that will fuel program innovation, scholarships, and facility improvements.

  • How can donors specifically support this new direction?

Donors can continue to support SpringHill in several meaningful ways. Unrestricted gifts give us the flexibility to address the greatest needs throughout the year. Scholarship gifts open the door for kids who might not otherwise experience camp. Monthly gifts provide steady support that helps sustain ministry through every season. Click here to partner with us in one of these three ways.

  • Will current pledges or restricted gifts be affected by the transition?

No. Your current pledges and restricted gifts will not be affected by this transition. While Indiana-specific scholarships will no longer be used at the Indiana property, every dollar will still serve Indiana kids by supporting their experience at our Michigan Overnight Camp.

  • Does this shift reduce the organization’s need for donor support?

Not at all. While this transition helps eliminate debt and reduce overhead, it actually increases our need for strong donor partnerships as we expand programming and grow camp capacity. Our Michigan Overnight Camp has room for 1,500 campers, yet we’re currently using only a portion of that space. With your support, we can fill those beds and reach thousands more kids for Christ at our flagship location.

  • Will you be transparent about how funds from the property sale are used?

Absolutely. We will provide clear reports to donors and stakeholders, demonstrating how funds are applied to strengthen our ministry’s impact. Transparency is always paramount, but especially at critical times like this.

  • Will the consolidation lead to new capital campaigns?

Yes. We anticipate launching targeted capital campaigns for facility upgrades, new cabins, and expanded family camp infrastructure.

  • How will this change affect scholarships for campers from Indiana?

We remain committed to making camp accessible for all children, regardless of location and/or financial means. We will continue to provide scholarships to campers through the same process and will not withhold any scholarships based on a camper’s location.

  • What is the biggest financial opportunity for donors to step into right now?

SpringHill is at a pivotal moment that will grow to have an incredible impact on young people for Christ. You have the opportunity to partner with us in this work. Unrestricted gifts allow us to meet the greatest needs throughout the year. Scholarship gifts open the door for kids who might not otherwise experience camp. Monthly gifts provide steady support that sustains ministry through every season. Click HERE to partner with us in one of these three ways.

  • How can donors be confident their gifts are being used wisely during this transition?

Our board and leadership are committed to full transparency and wise stewardship. By focusing on one property, we can reduce overhead, maximize ministry reach, and ensure every dollar given goes further in changing lives for Christ. We are also hopeful that selling our Indiana property will alleviate long-term debt, which ensures more of your donation goes directly toward programming, scholarships, and capital improvements.

  • What if we have more questions about donating and/or fundraising at SpringHill?

We welcome questions and are happy to talk with anyone who has more. Please reach out to Brad Smith, our Director of Development, Molly Ramseyer, the President of SpringHill, or the board-chair, Scott Whitlock if you have additional questions.
