SpringHill Leadership Development Programs

Empowering the Next Generation of Leaders

Guiding Teens and Young Adults to Lead with Faith and Confidence

Christian camping is uniquely positioned to create an environment where CHANGE takes place in a young person’s life.

When crafted correctly, this “away” experience creates the perfect environment for building character and nurturing young leaders. The combination of being away from regular habits and distractions, living within a Christ-centered community, being immersed in the outdoors, and having intentional spiritual input is the recipe young people need to form their own spiritual identities.

Simply put: Camp is the perfect environment to form and launch resilient disciples of Christ for God’s Kingdom!

This is more than merely possessing leadership qualities useful in our world—it is about forming spiritually mature disciples of Christ who will go on to change the world for Jesus! It is about raising up the next generation of godly young adults who will lead our nation and our world.

We believe that leadership is forged early in life and that it also takes time, repetition, and nurturing to see leaders emerge and mature. That’s why we encourage campers to return year after year and have created intentional leadership development programs beyond summer camp to foster spiritual growth and leadership skills.

Our Intentional Leader-Formation Program Offerings

CIT (Counselors in Training)

The Counselors in Training (CIT) program is designed to help young teens grow into Christ-centered leaders while making a meaningful impact on the lives of younger campers. CITs, typically 13-15-year-olds, play a vital role in supporting counselors by assisting with daily tasks, leading fun activities, and creating a positive, faith-filled experience at day camps held at local church campuses.

Through partnerships with churches, SpringHill brings day camps into local communities. Each church determines who can join as a CIT for the weekly day camp program each summer. Once accepted, SpringHill shapes the programming, which introduces young teens to leadership through service.

This hands-on leadership experience helps CITs develop essential skills such as responsibility, teamwork, and spiritual mentorship. Through serving, participating in camp traditions, and sharing biblical truths, CITs build confidence and resilience while strengthening their faith. With mentorship, intentional training, and real-world leadership practice, the CIT program prepares teens not just for camp but for a lifetime of service, faith, and personal growth.

TST (Teen Service Team or Work Crew)

Teen Service Team is a space where high schoolers experience a connection with a faith-based community and are given opportunities to grow in their leadership. Together, this community seeks to know Christ and be known by Him. TST empowers high schoolers to grow in their character by serving the needs of the camp and those around them.

TST invites high schoolers to ask hard questions and explore their faith and how faith interacts with their identity and their leadership. TST campers leave camp with a clear vision of what it means to be a disciple of Jesus and a belief that they are personally invited to live a life of worship both at camp and in the environments they return to after summer.

The SpringHill Day Camp Summer Staff experience is more than just a job—it’s a life-changing opportunity to grow as a leader and deepen faith. Serving as a Day Camp Team member equips young adults with essential leadership skills as they guide and mentor kids in a Christ-centered environment.

Counselors build confidence, resilience, and a heart for service through hands-on experience leading activities, facilitating discussions, and caring for campers. Working alongside experienced SpringHill staff, they’ll learn to lead with compassion, make decisions under pressure, and inspire others—qualities that will strengthen them both at camp and in every area of life.

This role isn’t just about making camp fun—it’s about personal growth, spiritual development, and becoming a stronger, Christ-centered leader in the community and beyond.
